- A precious one from us is gone, a voice we love is still, and a place is vacant in our home that can never be filled. On July 30, 1985 in Youngstown, Ohio, through God's grace Sheila Garrett became the proud mother to Richard Nathaniel Booker, III. On March 29, 2025, our beloved Ric left an unforgettable impact on the hearts of everyone he touched, as he peacefully departed this life at the age of 39. Affectionately known as "Ric" grew up with a strong sense of purpose and dedication to others. He attended Sylacauga High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of service and achievement. He graduated with the Aggie class of 2003. Ric proudly served his country for 6 years in the United States Air Force and traveled for 3 terms in Iraq. He earned distinction and honor for his selfless commitment. Ric accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a member of True Light Community Church in Sylacauga, Alabama, under the leadership of Bishop Douglas Varner. Ric was a well mannered gentleman, loved by everyone he came in contact with. He never hesitated to greet you with a hug and or handshake and smile. He loved entertaining family and friends and loved to have a good old fashion time. Ric was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Eddie Watkins, and Richard Booker, Sr., grandmothers, Jessie Booker LeCote, great grandmothers, Rose Watkins, and Ruth Garrett, great grandfather, Colay Garrett, uncle, Franke Booker. He is survived by his loving mother, Sheila Garrett of Tenneessee; loving son, Ryan (Jayce) Booker of Calera, AL; sisters, Danyell Garrett and Teralyn Tanner both of Tennessee; lifetime friend, Lauren Woods of Calera, AL; grandmother, Mary (Charles) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV; aunts and uncles, Evette (Jonathan) Murray of Seattle, WA, Kym (Derrick) Crawford of Sylacauga, AL, Laketa Dixon, Nicole Tyler both of Youngstown, OH, Diane Booker of Indianapolis, IN, Lynette Partee of Youngstown, OH, Lavette (Paul) Jackson of Miami, FL, John (Lynette) Garrett of Pittsburg, PA, Robert (Sara) Garrett of Hampton, VA, Mayine Smith of Columbus, OH, and Bettye Leonard of Sylacauga, AL; brother/cousins, Maurice (Yeinurai) Crawford, and Marcus Crawford both of Sylacauga, AL; special cousins, Toya Murray, Jamon Murray both of Seattle, WA, and Keisha Kimbrough of GulfPort, MS; nephews, Jordan Brooks, Kacey Hall, Khalil Taylor, Kashton Hall, and Kairo Hall all of Tennessee. A host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life and Memorial service for Richard Nathaniel Booker, III, age 39, will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1:00PM at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama. Bishop Douglas Varner, Eulogist. Interment will commence on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 12:30PM at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama.
