A Celebration Remembering the Life of SSG Elijah Borden, Jr., 74, of Talladega, Alabama, will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 11 a.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. SSG Elijah Borden, Jr. was born on January 18, 1947, to Elijah Borden, Sr. and Lula Mae Maxwell Borden in Talladega, Alabama. At an early age, Elijah accepted Christ, loved and served the Lord. He attended school in the Talladega County School system and was a graduate of Ophelia S. Hill High School in Munford, Alabama. In 1972, after graduation, Elijah decided to consecrate six years of his life to his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1978 after serving in the United States, Korea, and being in the Vietnam War. His primary specialty was being a Field Radio Mechanic and Tactical Communication Chief. Elijah received many decorations, medals, badges, commendations, citations, and campaign ribbons while serving his country; to name a few would be, NDSM, VSM, RVNOM, Svc Stripes (1), OS Bars (2), Bronze Star, Expert Badge with M-16 rifle, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal, and several others. He received his education as an Administrative Specialist while enlisted in the US Army. After serving his country, Elijah returned home working several jobs and holding many positions with the most recent being at Walmart in Talladega before retiring in 2019. On Sunday, June 13,2021, while in the contentment of his home, God called Elijah home and he transitioned peacefully from this earthly walk of life to his new eternal home. After receiving the Master's call, Elijah was welcomed home by his parents, Elijah Borden, Sr. and Lula Mae Borden, four brothers, L.M. Maxwell, William L. Maxwell, Josephus Maxwell, Sr., and Willie Lee Borden, two sisters, Margie M. Whitson and Mary Ann Borden. Elijah was a humble, intelligent, smart, and loving person who was always full of joy and love. Elijah's loving memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of his sister, Patricia Diane Borden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. S.M.
