Virginia West Obituary

Virginia Belle Kennedy West, known by friends as Ginny, was taken by Pancreatic Cancer on December 18, 2018 at the age of 83. Born in Hammond, Indiana, Ginny moved to Florida an attended Florida Southern where she obtained her Bachelors in Elementary Education. While attending Florida Southern, she was President of her sorority- Alpha Delta Phi, Sweetheart of Phi Kappa Alpha, and a member of Who's Who in American College. A resident of Cropwell, Alabama for 37 years, Ginny was a retired Alabama Elementary School Teacher. She adored spending time with her family, enjoyed gardening, and loved reading. In addition, she served as a member of the Pell City Broken Arrow Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, First United Methodist Church of Pell City, the Red Hats, Pell City Library Guild, Iron Cross Exercise Group, Bridge Clubs, and Lunch Bunch of Pell City. Virginia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clayton Murrow West, sons, Clayton West Jr. (Nola) and Robert K. West (Cathy), daughter Juanita Kathryn Sorrels (Scott), 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her two beloved Labrador Retrievers, Ace and Bella. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at Pell City First United Methodist Church. In memory of Virginia K. West and in-lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to PanCan.Org to help find a cure for Pancreatic Cancer or to a charitable organization of your choice.
