A Celebration Remembering the Life of Ms. Wendy Ann Elston Jenkins of Stone Mountain, Georgia, formerly of Talladega, will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 5 - 7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Wendy Ann Elston was born on June 27, 1975 in Talladega, Alabama, to the late Mr. John and Effie Elston, Sr. At an early age Wendy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in the Talladega City School System and was a graduate of Talladega High School. Once Wendy completed high school, she made the decision to serve her country when she enlisted in the US Army. While in the service, she furthered her education in the healthcare industry as an operating room specialist. After returning to civilian life as an army veteran, Wendy became a traveling surgical technician and she loved her job. She was a beloved sister and friend to everyone she met, never meeting a stranger. On Sunday morning, September 25, 2022, while residing in Stone Mountain, Georgia, in the comfort of her home, Wendy, a loving sister and friend, answered the Master's call and transitioned to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. John and Effie Elston, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Rosie Elston, Sr. and Ms. Margaret Clay and Mr. Willie Cross, and nephew, Mr. Calvin Cross. Wendy's memories will forever be cherished by her three sisters, Sandra Cross of Eutaw, AL, Angela Elston Grant of Birmingham, AL, and Felicia Denise Elston of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, John Wesley (Patricia) Elston, Jr. of Lincoln, AL; eight nieces and nephews, Andrea Grant, Joshua Joyner, Jared Joyner, Jehlando Joyner, Jasmin Joyner, Erica Cross, Isiah (Kristain) Johnson, and Quajuana Johnson; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie and Ruby Wilson and Mildred Swain; longtime friend, Mr. Kenneth Watson of Stone Mountain, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
