Kermit Johnsrud Obituary
Kermit Johnsrud , 79
Kermit Allyn Johnsrud, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 30, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kermit was born to George and Palma (Gysler) Johnsrud on September 17, 1945 in Glasgow, MT. He was raised in Columbia Falls with his brothers George, Jimmy and Ronald.
He graduated from Columbia Falls High in 1964 and married Bonnie Corbett. Kermit enlisted in the Army and served his country in Vietnam.
Upon returning home from the war, he worked summers at Royal Logging and also attended Northern Montana College in Havre graduating in 1973 with an Industrial Arts degree.
After returning to the Flathead Valley, Kermit began building residential homes as he and Bonnie raised their daughters Pam and Jen.
In 1998 Kermit went to work for DYK Corp. as a Superintendent in charge of building municipal water tanks. His travels working for DYK took him all over the USA. He eventually retired in his late 60's.
On June 22, 2001, Kermit married Rose Cottrell whom he absolutely adored. They enjoyed many years together. They loved traveling in the Southwest and taking trips in their motorhome.
He enjoyed having a beer with friends and in his younger years he and Rose would go dancing at the Eagles Club. Kermit enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley or BBQ'ing on the Traeger.
He immensely loved spending time with family and friends and he will always be remembered for his easy going spirit, his warm smile and kindness.
Kermit was always first to step up to help anyone in need whether with repairs, building things, moving, or helping brother in-law Kenny cut trees and stack firewood.
Kermit is survived by his wife Rose, his daughters Pam (Tim) Malyurek and Jen (Jeff) Darr both of Bozeman, his brother Jimmy, stepchildren Lisa (Paul) Kirby, Shelly, Kimberly, Andrew and Joseph Cottrell, along with ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way.
A Memorial service for Kermit will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Kalispell with a reception to follow in the church basement.
