Linda Taylor Obituary

Linda Hermeone Taylor, 88

Linda was born on December 14, 1936 in Havre, Montana to Leo and Edith Wall. Linda did not meet her father, Leo, as he died the day before she was born. Linda lived with her mother and maternal grandparents Hilbert and Eva Peterson until she was five years old. At this time, her mother Edith married Verlin Hurd. Verlin adopted Linda and she affectionately called him Daddy, and she then was Linda Hurd. Four siblings followed, into the Hurd family: Ruth, Sandra, Sharon and Russell.

Linda graduated from Big Sandy high school in 1954. She then attended Pacific Luther College and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Education. Her first job was in the Shoreline School District just outside of Seattle where she taught second grade. While there she met Dean Taylor who was a senior in dental school at the University of Washington.

Linda and Dean married in August 1959. Dean opened his dental practice in Othello, WA and Linda taught seventh grade, in the Othello School District. Their daughter Kristi was born in 1960, at which time Linda decided to stay home. Linda and Dean had just bought their first home, in Othello, when Dean was drafted into the Army. Dean was stationed at Ford Ord, in California. They lived at Fort Ord for two years and their son Michael was born in 1962. Linda spent many happy moments with her children at the beach in Carmel, CA.

At the end of Dean's deployment they returned to Othello where Dean continued his dental practice. Their daughter Jennifer was born in 1966. Linda returned to teaching when Jennifer was 10. She taught fifth grade in Othello until the principal asked her to come back to the Junior High and later to be the curriculum director of the Othello School District. She obtained her Master's Degree in 1980 from Eastern WA College.

Her daughter Jennifer passed away when she was 22 years old. Dean was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1986. Dean sold his dental practice about two years later and they moved to Puyallup, WA. While living in Puyallup, Linda taught third, sixth, fourth and fifth grades. She especially loved teaching the fifth grade-both the curriculum and students.

Linda retired from being an educator in 1999. After Dean passed in 2000, she moved to Kalispell, MT in 2002 to be near her daughter Kristi, and her mother Edith and sister Sandra. After her mother passed, her sister moved to North Dakota. Kristi and Linda remained in Kalispell. In 2017, Linda moved into the Villas at Buffalo Hill. Linda died, November 1, 2025. She was residing at the Retreat at Buffalo Hill.

Linda is survived by her children, Kristi Taylor of Kalispell, Michael (Lenise) Taylor of Kennewick, WA, her sisters Sandra and Shari and brother Russ, four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her father, step-father, mother, sister Ruth, daughter Jennifer and husband Dean passed before her.

Inurnment will be at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, in Othello, WA. Linda will rest, next to her husband Dean and her daughter, Jennifer.

A memorial service will be held at Buffalo Hill Terrace Chapel in December.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Othello, Washington in Spring 2026.
