Loretta Conrad Obituary

Loretta Rae Conrad, 87

With family by her side, Loretta Conrad passed away on Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2026.

Loretta was a lifelong resident of the Flathead Valley, born at a local clinic, December 4, 1938. Her parents were Helen and Lyle Everett. She attended school in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School in 1957. Loretta was doing administrative work for Glacier Memorial Gardens when she met her husband, Charles Conrad.

Family was the center of Loretta's life. With Chuck, her husband of 54 years, they had three sons, Wade, Todd, and Joel. They made their home on 39 acres in the Helena Flats neighborhood. Loretta was involved in school activities with her sons, in their 4-H projects, and the home demonstration club. She was a faithful and active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Loretta was proud of her growing family with the addition of six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

In retirement, Loretta and Chuck enjoyed traveling with family members around the Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska and Florida. Loretta even visited Iceland with her sister and sister-in-law. When she was home, watching sports on tv was a primary source of entertainment.

Loretta was always the accommodating hostess. Coffee and a snack were always available if you stopped by to visit. Loretta's house was the designated family gathering spot for the 4th of July fireworks and Christmas Eves.

Loretta may be remembered most in her role as a caregiver. If she was delivering Meals-on-Wheels, attending to the needs of an aging parent, babysitting a grandchild, or just being a good listener, Loretta extended a hand of helpfulness and a heart of kindness. She will be greatly missed.

Loretta was preceded in death by her son Joel, husband Chuck, a sister-in-law (Cherie), and a brother-in-law (Doug). She is survived by sons Wade (Star) Aloha, OR; Todd (Bobbie) Kalispell; sister Janice Knapton, Columbia Falls; brother Lynn Everett (Virginia) Portland, OR; five granddaughters; one grandson; one great-grandson; several nephews and nieces.

There will be a burial service on Saturday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Conrad Memorial Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Brian Lee officiating.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
