David Baughman Obituary
David Earl Baughman, 88 of Franklin, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 with family by his side.
He was born on January 13, 1937 in Johnson County, Indiana to Glenn and Ruth (Mathena) Baughman. David married Nancy Carol (Sandlin) Baughman on August 25, 1957. She preceded him in passing on May 26, 2017. He is survived by three children, Mike (Sharon) Baughman, Laura Poorman-Richmond and Lisa (Jim) Beck; grandchildren, Mark (Danielle) Baughman, Morgan (Jim) Godfrey, Bethany (Kyle) Beiriger, Natalie (Travis) Taylor, Chelsea (Brandon) Gabelman and Amanda (Bryan) Kilgore and great-grandchildren, Harper, Emma, Ryan, Leah, Graham, Kalani, Kaleia, Koa, Kyler, Kollyns, Kaylyn, Ainsley, Attelyne, James "Patrick" and Aubrey. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Nancy.
Dave was a 1955 graduate of Whiteland High School and attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dave was employed by Eli Lilly and worked in Polio Production and Development for a few years, and later was employed by Bituminous Casualty Corporation as a Claim Adjuster, working there for several years. He then went to Great American Insurance as a Claim Manager at their Indianapolis office, later being transferred to Gary, Indiana and then transferred to their Milwaukee office. He then was employed by Cigna Insurance, a subsidiary of Crum & Forester (Owned by Xerox Corp.), moving to St. Louis, Missouri and then to Denver, Colorado as a Claim Manager. He then was transferred and promoted to Vice-President of Primary Liability Claims and moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania working out of the home office of Crum & Forester in New Jersey. He retired in 1999 and he and Nancy moved back to Indiana and built a new home on his Mom and Dad's farm.
Dave was active in church wherever they lived and last attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
Pastor Brandon Jolley will conduct a graveside service on Saturday, November 8th at 1:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 548 W. 100 North, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
