Doris Burch Obituary

Doris Burch, 95, was called home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 6, 2022, after a short illness. She was born October 20, 1926 in Linton, Indiana, where she spent her childhood and graduated from Linton High School.

She was married for 57 years to Max L. Burch who predeceased her in 2002. She was also predeceased by her parents, Harley & Hazel Strickland, and a daughter, Deborah Ann (Burch) New.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Helen) Burch of Greenwood, IN; Tracy (Barbara) Burch; and a daughter, Denise Burch of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and two more on the way in January.

An active member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, she was often found busily serving the church community cooking in the kitchen, rocking babies in the nursery, and participating in other activities including hosting a monthly widows group in her home.

Doris lived in the same Bloomington home for 67 years where she gathered her large family together regularly during the year for pitch-in dinners. She was known as "Mom Burch," not only to her own family but also to many friends and acquaintances. A loving and vivacious woman, Doris accepted everyone non-judgmentally and loved and was loved deeply by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Doris will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 12:00PM Noon at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Burial will follow in the Valhalla Memory Gardens.
