James Douglas Gerton

James Douglas Gerton, 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Beech Grove.

He was born on February 15, 1955 in Indianapolis to Lawrence and LaWanna (Townsend) Gerton. Jim is survived by his daughter, Brittany "Britt" (Dennis) Johnson; brother, Tom (Kathy) Gerton; sister-in-law, Debbie Norman; two nephews, Matthew and Michael Gerton and niece, Jennifer Hinton. He was preceded in passing by his parents; brother, Richard Gerton and nephew, Jeremy Gerton.

Jim was a 1973 graduate of Center Grove High School and attended Indiana College of Business and Technology.

He was a Computer Programmer working for Blue Cross Blue Shield and later with Daniels & Associates.

He was a member of the Southport Masonic Lodge No. 270, F & A M and he attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Jim was a huge music fan, enjoyed Indy Car racing, watching the Indiana Pacers and spending time with his three grand dogs. He was an avid donor to the Native-American Elementary Schools and also to the World Wildlife Fund.

A celebration of Jim's life will be conducted on Saturday, March 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin.
