June Alaine Roembke, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend entered into eternal rest at the age of 81 on April 28, 2023. A resident of Greenwood, she was born on September 14, 1941, in Hammond, Indiana to the late Keith B. Kistler and Juel Green Dobbins Kistler.
June grew up moving frequently with her family due to her father's occupation. She considered her hometowns Downers Grove IL and Indianapolis's University Heights neighborhood. She was a proud graduate of Manual High School and was a member of the ROTC, editor of the school newspaper, member of the yearbook staff, and multiple choral groups. June and Roger were married during the Spring Break of their senior year at Indiana Central College at University Heights United Methodist Church (60-year member). She received a Indiana University Masters of Education. She was a devoted Mom first but educator always. June was a teacher at Newby Elementary School, Southport High School, St. Elizabeth's School, Central Nine Vocational School, and taught business at Center Grove High School for 17 years. She was a faculty mentor for the Business Professionals of America and served as a national officer. She joined Sweet Adeline's Chorus both in Indiana (Capitol City Chorus) and Texas (Magic Valley Chorus) and was a devoted member of the Shades of Gray quartet. She was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and sang in the choir, was a member of the chimes, and loved her bible study group.
She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, enjoying every basketball game, choir concert, Color guard performance, softball game, band contest, football game, baseball game, Tennis match, round of Golf and performance of any kind! She was a lover of music of all kinds and loved singing most of all. June enjoyed traveling with Roger and there was a special place in her heart for the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Her adventurous spirit was infectious, at the age of 80 she took two laps at the Indianapolis 500 in an Indy car going 180mph. She had an amazing love for the Lord and her favorite verse was, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15". Her sweetness and energy is an inspiration to all those who knew her and every memory of her is a reminder of her love and enjoyment of life.
June leaves behind to treasure her memory, her husband of 60 years, Roger C. Roembke; three children, Jennifer A Plummer (Kevin), R. Keith Roembke (Shelli), Jill A. Wilson (James) and Kim A. Walls (Rickey); grandchildren, Keegan, Caleb, Camden, Abigail, Kade, Christian, Ainsley, Keith, and Jack; and so many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Julie A. Lauing, and brother Thomas B. Kistler.
