Marylou Birdwell Obituary

Marylou A. (Casey) Birdwell, 77, of Franklin, IN passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community.

She was born on June 4, 1948, in Bamberg, West Germany. Her parents were George William Casey and Hazel M. (Lusby) Casey, they preceded her in death.

Marylou married Terry Lee Birdwell on September 3, 1994, in Mooresville, IN; he preceded her in death on August 25, 2009.

She had been a licensed foster parent trainer for the State of Indiana. Marylou previously had owned and operated a ceramic studio. She had fostered over 48 children in her lifetime.

Marylou attended Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN enjoyed creating and making candy, the color purple and lavender roses.

Survivors include her children Michele (Cannon) Lee (Steve) of Franklin, IN, David Cannon Jr. (Samantha) of Florida and Rachael Beaupre of Fishers, IN, her four adopted children, her 48 foster children over the years, her grandchildren Kevin Lee (Emily), David "DJ" Cannon III (Hannah), Tanya Claxton (Evan), Kristin Jemison (Tyler), Victoria Beaupre (Travis), Dominique Runyon, Micayla Lee (Tyler), Jerris Lee (Lauren), Casey Beaupre (Tiffany), Hailey Cannon and Alex Bedard, great grandchildren Aislynn, Jacob, Marley, Lylah, Olivia, Emma, Oliver, Ruby, Everleigh, Elliana, Bella, Carter, Nora and Kenton, and six siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three siblings.

Chaplain Deb Baker will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/maryloubirdwell. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.

An additional celebration of life memorial service will follow on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 3PM at the Wright Chapel at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community,

1070 West Jefferson Street in Franklin, IN with Chaplain Deb Baker conducting with visitation from 2PM until service time.

Private family inurnment graveside service will take place at Jonestown Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs, Clay County, Tennessee.
