Shirley Hibbitt Obituary
born on February 7, 1944, and passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter Karen (Hibbitt) Brandon, and her five cherished grandchildren - Brian, Caitlin, Mia, Jonah, and Clara. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Darlene, Lonnie, Neil, Mark, and Annette.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin Tucker Hibbitt III (passed October 9, 2019) and her devoted son Paul Hibbitt Brandon (passed July 12, 2024).
Shirley cherished her friends and family above all else. She lived a full and vibrant life - one filled with laughter, creativity, and kindness. She found joy in gardening, tennis, racquetball, golf, and bowling leagues, and loved spending time with friends at Valle Vista Country Club. A creative spirit, she delighted in cross-stitching, sewing, painting, decorating, and playing bridge. She had a passion for travel, wintered in Florida, and never passed up a good shopping trip. Shirley was also an avid reader and tackled The New York Times crossword puzzle each week in pen alongside her husband - always embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and grace.
Many will remember Shirley for her gentle heart, helpful spirit, and unwavering optimism. Her mind is now whole again and free from the grips of dementia. She joins Ed and Paul in a place of peace and eternal love.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family will not be hosting a public celebration or open house. To honor Shirley's memory, we invite you to plan a lunch with friends, start a new craft, or spend time in your garden - all things she loved.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider volunteering or donating to your local memory care home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center at The Gardens of Olive Branch, Greenwood, IN.
