Charles is a dear friend. He will live in my heart forever. I will miss him. But know he is looking after me as I fish using his fishing rods he made for me.

Carol, I will always have a slot in my memory bank for Charlie. I begin working with MU Extension in 1989 and Charlie and Mel Z took me in and “showed me the ropes”. We worked on many community projects together. I always admired Charlie’s soft-spoken easy going manner that allowed him to put other people at ease when he was working with them.
It was my privilege to be invited to go with them on the Canadian fishing trip one year. It was the trip of a lifetime for me and I have many fond memories of that time we spent together.
He will always be remembered, by me, as a great co-worker and a wonderful southern gentleman.

Carol, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember him as always being pleasant. He was always friendly and made me like he really wanted to talk to me - an old 90+ year old lady. May your pleasant times with him sustain you! God Bless.

Charles trained me when I started in Extension in 1979. He was always fun but taught me several things I still use in my extension work today. My best memory is when he came up to Unionville under the displaced workers program and was meeting us for breakfast at the steer inn. He had a jacket and tie on and a character at the restaurant stated "you're not from around here, are ya". Charlie told us the minute he said that the tie and jacket were off. I will miss him very much, a good man.

Carol, Leslie, Michael and all of your family, our sincerest sympathies go out to you. As my Father's baby brother, we were so lucky to spend some time with all of you while growing up. Whether it be in Farmington, Middletown, or Sparta, it was always a special occasion to visit with you. Charles was definitely the "cool" uncle with the "cool" car that always had some great food. Although didn't get to see much of you over the last 30 years, when we did, it was truly special. Blessings to you. Make sure you say hello to your brother for me. Love you all.

Uncle Charles, in my mind, wore every good character trait that the word "Uncle" implies. Always with a teasing wink, along with a sparkled roll of the eye when needed, he was family and kin in the truest sense. As an Uncle and Great Uncle myself, now, I still patter and pattern with a hope I can fill those shoes in a roll as well as he. Uncle Charles will be sorely missed and his family's heavy heart are held close.

When Tim married Leslie, you got a whole family. Charles was more than a good friend, he was family to us. We loved him and enjoyed his fellowship, sweet friendship and great advice. He loved pecan pies, and after one meal when I had made the pies instead of June, in his sweet, kind way gave me advice on pie making. He told me that my pecan pie was good, but June made better crust. I’m sure that if pies are made in Heaven, June is probably making pecan pies for Charles while he and Harold discuss the latest Louis L’Amour book. He will be greatly missed by our entire family.

Dearest Carol, Leslie, Michael, and family,

Charles was such an inspiring man with much wisdom that comes with age and life experiences. However, the extraordinary gift was Charles had the wisdom at an early age. Charles and Carol were such a role model as a married couple for others. We are so blessed that our paths in life crossed.

We will share a funny story ... many years ago while visiting in our home and having a meal together Michael took the lid off an A-1 steak sauce bottle shaking it and everyone held their breath because we thought steak sauce would be flying in the air. Needless to say, his parents rescued the bottle with calming words
and finesse.

Our sympathy again.

My dear Uncle Charles, you were my dad’s kind and always “cool” little brother. So glad we got to see you in 2019, and on “Zoom” this past summer. I’m so sorry that you’re gone now too. I know you are reunited in Heaven with my dad “Bob”, as well as your parents and many others. God bless the rest of your family. Love to Carol, Leslie, Michael, and their families! Sorry we can’t be there for the service. We will be thinking of you all and praying for you! Love, Son, Nancy, & family

I’m so sorry to hear of Charlie passing. I know he and my dad, Wyman Boyer, spoke a lot about fishing. Would like to think they are on a big lake catching all the fish they want. God Bless.

Dr Gamble was one of my favorite teachers at MAC. I had signed up for an Equine something or other class. I missed the first night of class due to showing weanlings at the Missouri State Fair show. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the class that I THOUGHT had to do with horses, but had BECOME Beef and Swine Production. Upon finding out I was Roy Hager´s niece, Dr Gamble talked me into staying. I knew NOTHING about beef or swine, except to be able to tell them apart. Dr Gamble had quite a few laughs at my expense, to which I eagerly provided more. I have to say, I enjoyed that class so much. Was it due to the content? Not in any way. My enjoyment came from getting to know this incredibly nice man. My condolences to your family. I´m sure, Dr Gamble and my Uncle Roy (and probably my Dad) are laughing hysterically about the essay answers from my final exam. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers!

Mr. Gamble was our neighbor for years. He always had a smile or a wave. He helped with our cows and always knew when a calf was ready to arrive. He was our back door look out. We were so saddened to see his picture here. But again that smile still makes my day. Kenny & our family send our love.

If I may, I want to share the words I sent to my Dad on Father's Day this year. I miss him so terribly already.

What words come to mind when I think of my Dad? Some 'titles' he has had, and sometimes still has Role model, Mentor, Expert, Engineer, Counselor for my emotional health, my financial health, my physical health.

Others terms that come to mind, Friend, DAD, family.

Dad has always shown me love, and can show tough love too. Heck, even recently, when I really needed a “tough love” moment, Dad was there and helped. He balanced compassion with tough guidance. That is an AMAZING talent I wish I had.

I know he would do anything in his power to help me, Mom, all of our family. Dad, I love you! I also want to Thank You!

I love you Dad!

Carol, I am at a loss for words. I was astounded when I saw the obituary for Charles. Charles & i have been friends for well over 30 years. I met Charles at the Capital Cafe where we mutually went for our daily morning coffee. We have long since spent many hours at my shop figuring out how a fishing reel might be fixed or if I could possibly make a part that Charles could no longer get.
Charles had a broad diversity of intelligence. I will so miss his councel & his friendship. He was a good man & will be missed emencely. I was so fortunate to have him (& you) as good friends these many years.
