Henry Lee Shumake
FARMINGTON – Henry Lee Shumake of Farmington, passed away on January 13, 2021, at Maple Brook Assisted Living at the age of 93. He was born on August 22, 1927, in Valles Mines to the late Charles Henry and Sarah Caroline (Boyd) Shumake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine (Pulliam) Shumake and his brothers, Robert Shumake, Raymond Shumake, and Herman Shumake.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Cheryle Lee (husband Steven) Bailey of Farmington, his grandsons, Timothy (and wife Jamie) Barton of Trophy Club, Texas, Eric (and wife Melinda) Barton of Farmington and Aaron (and wife Nikki) Barton of Phoenix, Arizona, ten great grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, along with many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Henry proudly served his county in the United Sates Army in World War II, and served in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam retiring after 21 years of dedicated service. He worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 23 years as a regional manager and for Barton Insurance Services as an advisor for 20 years. He was a devout Christian and a devoted member of First Assembly of God Church of Farmington. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers but mostly loved spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will resume on Saturday at 7 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel officiated by Pastor Michael Davis. Interment with full military honors to follow at Parkview Memorial Cemetery. Masks are required if attending the visitation and/or service and please adhere to social distancing guidelines.
