Janet Claudette Pauls
FARMINGTON – Janet Claudette Pauls, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 83. She was born in Peoria, Illinois, on December 24, 1938, to the late Marvin Milton Combs and Ida Mae (Haney) Combs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Combs.
Janet graduated high school from Flat River High School in 1956 where she had been a cheerleader and the 1955 Homecoming Queen. She married Robert Pauls in 1962 and together they raised a family of three children. Being a mother and homemaker to her family was her most cherished role, (which she did without difficulty). She also had a knack for photography. Even though she had little training, she enjoyed taking pictures of events for families who couldn't afford a photographer. This hobby turned into a side business for Janet and many people in the area have Janet's creative photos from weddings, birthdays and anniversaries.
Her spiritual faith never wavered and was strong. She was a long-time member of the Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she had served as church secretary, as a deaconess, on the bereavement dinner committee and past chairman of several committees. Many will remember Janet for her participation in many church bazaars where she sold her scrumptious chicken and dumplins and apple butter.
A strong supporter of her grandchildren's events, Janet made sure she never missed going to their games, recitals, or any other activities they took part in.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Allen Pauls, Sr.; her children, Cynthia Ann Meyer, Deborah Kaye (Richard Darnell) Pauls and Robert Allen (Shanda) Pauls, Jr; six grandchildren, Tabitha (Michael) Tomko, Thomas Meyer, Tyler Scales (girlfriend Elle Lappe), Alissa Darnell, Alexis Pauls and Macey Pauls; great-grandchildren, Claire Tomko and Waylon Russell; a sister, Judy (Jerry) Neff; and her sister-in-law, Betty Combs.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, July 20 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Farmington Christian Church followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. with Rev. Alan Berry and Rev. Dale Berck officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Janet's name to Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
