John 'J.D.' Barnes
FARMINGTON – John "J.D." Barnes, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on November 29, 2022, at the age of 85. He was born on April 16, 1937, in Farmington to the late Clyde and Vicia (Clark) Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Barnes and Darryl "Fred" Barnes and his special "brother," Dennis Lee.
J.D. proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a sheet metal supervisor for the United States government. He was a life member of the AMVETS Post 113 of Farmington and the Elks Lodge in Minnesota. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 248, the Moose Lodge along with being a Master Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering in the garage, but most of all he loved attending his grandchildren's extracurricular events. J.D. will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
J.D. is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Arlene (Gentner) Barnes, his children, Denise Barnes Gallagher, Brian (Brenda) Simpkins, Albert (Annette) Simpkins, Katrina (Rick) Green, Darlene (Milton) Hatfield, and Sonda Barnes, grandchildren, Dominick and Penelope along with numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his loving sister, Karen Lee, his brother, Raymond (Annette) Barnes, along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time of service with full military honors at 2 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Brother Tim Barnes.
