Rubie Irene Dickey
FARMINGTON – Rubie Irene Dickey, of Farmington, passed away on December 30, 2020, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 100. She was born on November 6, 1920, in St. Charles, Missouri, to the late Dallas J. and Elsie Marie (Penny) Smart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles "Ed" Dickey and her brother, Dallas Raymond Smart.
Rubie is survived by her son, Charles David (and wife Jacqueline) Dickey of Fairview Heights, Illinois, along with sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Rubie was a member of Farmington Christian Church for several decades. She was an avid reader of a variety of books, newspapers and periodicals. She continued to read two or more books each week even as she passed her 100th birthday. She also loved animals of all kinds, wild and domestic.
Rubie was able to reside in her home somewhat independently with special assistance from her neighbors, Linda and Cliff Gerstner, niece and nephew, Cathy and John Huber, fellow church members, Janet and Bob Pauls and many others. Her family also would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Parkland Health Center and BJC Hospice for their loving and considerate care.
Rubie will be instate at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon with Pastor Alan Berry officiating. Private interment to follow. Masks are required if attending the visitation and/or service and please adhere to social distancing.
