Thomas Wayne Straughan Sr.
FARMINGTON – Thomas Wayne Straughan, Sr., of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital at the age of 80. He was born on July 24, 1942, in Bonne Terre to the late Lester and Bessie (Hammack) Straughan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Wayne Straughan, Jr., his siblings, Lester Joseph "Joe" Straughan, Jr. and Patrician Straughan Ashby, his grandson, Christopher Pevey, and his first wife, Sandra Straughan.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Gibson) Straughan, his children, Michael (Kelly Wolk) Hunt of Farmington and Susie (Nick) Straughan of Farmington, two special grandchildren, Gerald Pevey and Laci Straughan, along with many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, other extended family members and friends, Tami, and his special milliondollar feline companion, "Miss Kitty.
Tom formerly worked as a heavy equipment operator for Union Local 513 and was the owner and administrator for several nursing homes in the area. Tom was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765 and was a Shriner and a Mason. He enjoyed working on cars, gambling, and music but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Tom was very social, never met a stranger, and enjoyed helping others. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 11 a.m.until time of service at 1 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor Darren Gallaher. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
