Charles D. Suitch Sr.

Charles D. ‘Charlie’ Suitch Sr. of Downingtown Charles D. “Charlie” Suitch Sr., 88, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Peggie D. Randler Suitch, sharing 63 years of marriage together. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of Daniel H. and Margaret Kubilus Suitch. Charles was a 1945 graduate of Hazleton High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II, earning the rank of sergeant and receiving the W.W. II Victory Medal. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University, graduating in 1951. During his business career, Charles worked for the Travelers Insurance Company as commercial casualty property manager for Philadelphia. He then worked for the Pennsylvania and Delaware Compensation Rating Bureaus as senior vice president, specializing in workers’ compensation insurance. He also served as past president of the Casualty Property Managers Association of Philadelphia and past president of the Keystone Audit Society in Harrisburg. For recreation, Charles enjoyed playing golf and had the opportunity to play at Pine Valley Golf Club. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling to spend time with them. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his sons, Charles D. Suitch, Jr., of Exton, Arthur J. Suitch, of Decula, Ga., and Stephen T. Suitch, of Downingtown; sisters, Kathryn Thaller, of Bluffton, S.C., and June Miller, of San Marcos, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Jane Suitch, of Weatherly, Pa. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Suitch. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February, 29, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown, PA 19335, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery.
