John McClay Obituary

John "Jack" W. McClay, 82, of Parkesburg, passed away at his home on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy Townsend McClay, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emily Sheehy McClay.
Jack was a resident of Parkesburg all his life and a 1948 graduate of the Parkesburg High School.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was employed for 38 years by the Lukens Steel Co., retiring in 1993 as a bricklayer foreman. After retirement, he enjoyed working part time at the Parkesburg Walmart.
Jack was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church and also the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children, Michael McClay and wife, Debbie, of Parkesburg, Barbara McClay of Christiana, and David McClay of West Chester; four grandchildren, Lauren, Courtney, Michael and Kallie; two great-grandchildren, Josh and James; two sisters, Eileen Mariano of Honey Brook and Anne Debiak of Parkesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Lori McClay; and three siblings, Joe and Jim McClay and Betty Nafe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. Second Ave., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery.
The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, and also from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Heartland Hospice, 5 Christy Drive, Suite 103, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
