Joseph Mitchell Warihay Jr.

Joseph Mitchell Warihay Jr., 90, of West Chester, died Friday, March 15, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Norma Warihay, who passed away in 2005.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Joseph Mitchell Warihay Sr. and the late Josephine Warihay.
He graduated from West Chester High School and attended West Chester College prior to joining the armed forces during World War II.
He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces from Jan. 11, 1943, to Jan. 21, 1946, before being honorably discharged with a rank of sergeant and received the American Campaign Medal, EAME Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
He enjoyed a lifelong career working at Wyeth Laboratories, retiring in 1987.
As a young man, Joe achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 43 and was also a longtime member of the F&AM Masonic Lodge #322 of West Chester.
Joe enjoyed many hobbies and interests including gardening, auto and small engine repair, and most especially traveling.
He is survived by his children, Robert and his wife, Barbara, Nancy W. Beaumont and her husband, Brenden, William and his wife, Virginia, and James and his wife, Margret; grandchildren, Robert Jr., David, Brenden, Keith, William, Samantha and Tyler; and five great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Masonic funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service.
Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
