Judith Ann Welsh "Dee Dee" Frain

Judith Ann 'DeeDee' Welsh Frain of West Chester Judith Ann 'DeeDee' Welsh Frain, 86, wife of the late Theodore H. Frain, Jr., passed on Monday, June 3, 2013. She was born and lived in West Chester. She was the daughter of the late W. Crawford and Adelaide Brinton Welsh and was a descendant of the Brinton family that first came to America in the late 1600's. She graduated from West Chester High School and went to work at Schramms, where she was introduced to her future husband, Ted. They married in 1947 and went on to share 55 loving and active years together. They traveled the world, making many lifelong friends along the way. In their later years, they wintered in Puerto Rico, and, later, in Sarasota, Florida. Ocean City, New Jersey was a big part of her life. Judy and Ted bought a home there in 1956 where Judy spent the next 60 summers nurturing her loving family. Her family still gathers there today. Family and friends were always welcome and Judy made sure Saturday night dinner was a special event. Judy's warmth and friendliness helped her when she moved to her apartment at the Wellington Retirement Community in 2005 after the passing of Ted. She was very active there, attending many of the functions and making many new friends along the way. For those who knew her, she will be remembered for her laugh and sense of humor. She was a long time member of Calvary Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels. She loved tennis, golf, music, the arts and politics. She is survived by her three children, Ted III and his wife Christine, Stephen and his wife Joan, and Susan Vasquez and her husband Robert; four grandchildren, Teddy lV, Stephanie, Stephen ll and Elizabeth; six great-grandchildren, Teddy V, Genevieve, Anderson, Carson, Ethan and Alexa; and her sister, Gayle Schlegel. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank Bayada Home Healthcare and Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care for their kind, compassionate and loving care. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7th at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382, where relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
