Raymond L. Finch of Collegeville Raymond L. Finch, died June 2, 2012 at Bryn Mawr Hospital after an illness. Mr. Finch was born on April 3, 1932 in Philadelphia, a son of the late George and Catherine (Opalesky) Finch. He was 80 years of age. Mr. Finch graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He attended the University of Pennsylvania until he was drafted and returned to graduate from Ursinus College after his military service. Mr. Finch proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a machine gunner and served with his twin brother in "How" Company 3/5 and fought on Hill 181, OP-2. Although his brother was wounded, he survived a direct hit unscathed. Mr. Finch worked as a computer programmer at Uniform Tube in Trappe and later at ADEC, later US Healthcare. He had been the captain of the lifeguards at Mermaid Lake, been ranked #1 in a tennis league in Norristown, and played the violin in the Germantown Academy Orchestra performing at the Academy of Music. Mr. Finch was a volunteer at the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital in Malvern and at the Brandywine Helicopter Museum. He enjoyed model airplanes, playing tennis, and dogs. Mr. Finch was the widower of Carolyn Finch, with whom he had shared 51 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters, Joanne Terebesi (Christopher) of Glenmoore and Jacqueline Finch of Collegeville. Also surviving are five grandchildren; his brother, Bernard Finch of New Hope; and his sister, Georgia Arnold of Marmora, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Finch, Sr., by his twin brother, Leon, and by his brothers, Mark and George. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Stone Crop Farm, 1646 Fairview Road, Glenmoore, PA 19343. Friends may visit with the family after 2 p.m. Friday. Interment will be private.
