Robert W. Richey

Robert W. Richey of Downingtown Robert W. Richey, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Simpson Meadows. He was the beloved husband of Mary C. McGinley Richey, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of the late Courtland and Hazel Smith Richey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Robert earned his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa and then worked for E.I. DuPont in Wilmington, DE as a business manager for 27 years. After retiring from DuPont, Robert established Ser-I-Quip, Inc., a process machine manufacturing company currently located in Downingtown. After guiding the growth of Serv-I-Quip for 16 years, Robert retired again in 1996. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his five children, Michael (Kathryn) Richey, Ellen (Georg) Sondermann, John (Christine) Richey, Karen Richey and Susan Richey. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Abigail, Travis, Amber, Maeghan, Francis, Marie, Ryan, Renee and Christopher. Robert was predeceased by a brother James and a sister Hazel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.
