Rose Teti Obituary

Rose M. DiMartini Teti, 98, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Brandywine Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Francis A. "Doc" Teti, who predeceased her in 1998.
Born in Devon, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Veneranda Pulilli DiMartini.
In her teenage and early adult years, she worked in her family's grocery store and restaurant, Martini's, in Devon. After marrying and moving to Coatesville, she was the co-owner of the family business, Teti's Cut Rate, where she worked every day for 54 years until she retired in 1982. The store, which featured a penny candy counter, a nine-seat soda fountain and booths for patrons, was a popular gathering place for Coatesville students and residents, young and old, many of whom had their first dates at the store. Rose was a fixture "behind the counter," greeting and serving her customers, who became endeared to her warm, caring style, and her delicious sandwiches and other menu items.
Rose was the consummate volunteer, and was a regular in the kitchens at Our Lady of the Rosary Church and the LGM in Coatesville.
She was best known for her wonderful smile and positive attitude, always there to lend an encouraging word to a friend, family member or a customer at Teti's.
She liked needlepoint and crocheting, and made hundreds of blankets that are now family keepsakes. She was an incredible cook and baker, and she enjoyed making her specialties for birthdays or holidays. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Congrega Society for many years. She was also active in the Brandywine Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Francis L. "Chip" Teti and wife, Doreda, and Louis N. Teti and wife, Joann, all of Downingtown. She is survived by five grandchildren, Amanda O'Neil, Christopher Teti, Laura Rothschild, Jeffrey E. Teti and Ryan F. Teti; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Anna M. Spinelli.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters: Jennie, Patrick, Sue, Margie, Frank, Tony, Louie and Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Ss. Philip & James Roman Catholic Church, 107 N. Ship Road, Exton, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in West Chester.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320.

Teti Family I am very sorry for your loss. As a child I remember going to the store to buy candy and a soda and sitting at the counter. All seven of my siblings did the same. Very fond memories. I also remember Rose when we had dinners at the church and the LGM. She was a very sweet lady. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Chipper and Louie,
What can I say? Aunt Rosie was the kindest, sweetest person I have ever known. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I will always remember her smiling and laughing. What a loss for our family. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Love you both.

Lou & Chip,

Aunt Rose was the best. My mom and I would go over to your parents when they lived on 11th Ave., and sit in the kitchen, have coffee, and eat ice cream ! Very fond memories. I'm glad that your mom and my mom were such good friends ! Aunt Rose was "special", for sure !

Sorry to both of you.

Chip/Lou, so many memories! Watching her make the spaghetti at the dining room table, teasing her and making her yawn. She always knew where we'd been and what 'trouble' we'd caused. But would never tell us HOW she knew. The very best Aunt ever! I loved her and will miss her.

Lou and Chip, Sorry to hear about your Mom.She was a great lady and a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing her with everyone at her former home in Downingtown. I will say a prayer to her and remind her that my name, is Steve and not Vince, as she always called me.In case you both wondered, that's why I always called her Vince. I will miss her ever present smile and seeing her sitting with her friends in front of the fireplace at her apt. bldg. in Downingtown.

So sorry for your loss. I still remember your Mom going into your store & getting me a birthday present while we were in the house playing when I was 8 years old. She was a great lady.

While I had spoken to Mrs. Teti a few times in the store, I knew Chip from St. Cecilia's and in Coatesville public schools. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Louie and Chip, so sorry to hear of your loss. Teti's was the hangout because your Mom always made everyone feel welcome. We remember when Betsy's brother Bobby was picked up for loitering when the high school kids hung out there during our high school years. And Betsy's Mom had lunch there everyday when she worked at Terry School. Those were the good old days and your Mom was always so gracious and warm. She's in a much better place and will be in our prayers.

Blessed Mother to guide Rose Home!!
