Shirley Rigoroso Obituary

Shirley May Rigoroso of Parkesburg Shirley May Rigoroso, 78, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the Paoli Hospital. She was the widow of the late Salvatore John Rigoroso who died in 1975. Born in Parkesburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Letitia Booth Mullen. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Parkesburg. She was employed for 20 years by the Octorara School District retiring in 1996. In her younger years, she was employed at the Coatesville VA Medical Center; however, most of her life and energy was spent as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. During the past eight years of her life, Shirley displayed to her family and friends her strength, faith and courage while she journeyed with cancer. Shirley was a devoted Roman Catholic by faith and a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg where she belonged to the Sodality of Our Lady of Consolation. She also enjoyed cooking, trips to the Jersey Shore, bingo and the casinos. She is survived by five children; Grace Ann Sagnor of West Chester, Patricia Milanese of Coatesville, Bernadette, wife of John Sardella of Downingtown, Benedetto Rigoroso and fiance Kim of Coatesville, and Letitia, wife of Kris Ray of Kimberton; 10 grandchildren, Gina Marie, Johnny, Kara, Alexandra, Theresa, Gabriel III, Shannon, Kristen, Lauren and Chelsey; one sister, Jane Mullen of Parkesburg; one sister-in-law, Dawn Mullen of Parkesburg; and one brother-in-law, Jerome Rigoroso of New York. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Gabriel P. Milanese, Jr.; two sisters, Lillian Mowrey and Barbara Mullen; and two brothers, George and Robert Mullen. The family wants to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion given to their mother by her caregivers Kippy and Billie Jo, Dr. John Khalifa, Dr. Michel Hoessty and staff and the entire Mainline Health System and also to Ashbridge Manor Senior Living Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25th, from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 West Second Avenue, Parkesburg, PA 19365, followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening April 24th, at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg.
