Barbara Moore Obituary

Barbara Sue Moore passed from this life into the presence of her Lord on October 31, 2022. Barbara was the daughter of Sue and Eugene Duren (deceased), and was born on November 25, 1956, in Houston, Texas.

She was devoted to her family, and her greatest joy in life was her sons Nathaniel Taylor Moore and Clayton Duren Moore. Together they traveled to many states and countries making memories. Her favorite place was the beach in Destin, Florida.

In 1978 Barbara became an R.N., and in 1995 she completed her master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas in Arlington. She was also a member of the Medical Reserve Corps. Barbara loved the city of Memphis, leading fundraisers for The Memphis Zoo, The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and The Komen Foundation, - among others. In 2003 she was honored by Memphis Women's Magazine as one of "50 Women Who Make a Difference". She published a memoir titled "Birds of a Feather...Choosing to Fly" after her experience with breast cancer.

Barbara had a lifelong love of horses and began riding at the age of four. Her favorite smell was the inside of a barn. She was an artisan in oil painting, sewing, crochet, and jewelry.

Barbara had many accomplishments, but even more important to her was her faith in Christ, which carried her every day. She was truly a reflection of the light of Jesus to everyone who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her sons Nathan Moore (Maggie) and Clayton Moore (Rachel), her grandchildren Henry and Sophie, her brother Richard Duren, her sister Janet Epperson, nieces and nephews, many loving friends, her faithful assistant Sharon Woods, and the father of her children John Moore, to whom she was married for over 40 years.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church in Collierville, Tennessee, on Friday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m.

She has requested donations in lieu of flowers, which may be sent to St. Patrick Presbyterian Church or Trinity Farms Therapeutic Riding Program in Cordova, Tennessee.
