Betty Jean Taylor began her earthly journey on July 4, 1958, when our Heavenly Father entrusted her into the loving care of her parents, Mr. Murrel Harry and Eliza Jeans Porter. At an early age, she confessed her hope in Christ at Mt. Olive #1 Baptist Church in Fayette County, planting the seeds of a lifelong faith. Later, she became a faithful member of New Wright Baptist Church in Collierville, Tennessee, where she served joyfully for many years as an usher and church nurse, ministering to others until her health no longer allowed.
Betty's deep love for God and compassion for others opened countless doors throughout her life. She graduated from Mt. Pisgah High School and went on to earn her Nursing degree from the University of Memphis. Driven by a spirit of service, she later enlisted in the United States Army as a PII.
On September 28, 1996, in
Memphis, Tennessee, Betty was joined in Holy Matrimony to Larry Taylor, a union blessed by God. On November 1, 2025, Betty completed her earthly journey at her home in Eads, Tennessee. The Lord, in His mercy, welcomed her into her eternal home-a house not built by human hands, but prepared by Him. Awaiting her in glory are her beloved mother, Eliza Jeans Porter, and her grandfather, Alex Jeans, who poured wisdom and love into her life and now rejoice in her heavenly arrival.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her devoted husband, Larry Taylor, Sr., and her beloved son, Dennis Bratcher, Jr. She also embraced three bonus children with open arms: Larry Taylor, Jr., Cedric D. Taylor, and Nataki K. Taylor. Her memory lives on through her three loving siblings, Willie T. (Martha) Jeans, Ruby (Ernie) Jeans Jackson, and Alex (Charolette) Jeans, who shared in her journey of faith and family. She was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of dear relatives and friends who will continue to celebrate the light she brought into their lives.
