Carl Noblett Obituary

Carl Stephen "Steve" Noblett, age 68, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on October 31, 2025.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants. - Psalm 116:15

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Victoria Noblett; his daughters, Angela (Ira) Strange, Alyssa (Edward) Nance; and his granddaughter and greatest joy, Madison "Maddie" Nance. He is also survived by his brothers, Chris Noblett, and Marc Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Bill Livingston; his father, Carlos Noblett; and his brother Bobby Livingston.

An East High School alumnus, Steve continued his education at the University of Memphis (Memphis State) and later attended Covenant College in England. In the 1980s, he worked in sales with SF Products. During the 1990s, he served as pastor of Covenant Community Church at 704 N. Highland, where he founded Club 704B and The Soul Factory-a haven for youth across the city. He also established City Builders, an afterschool and mentorship program for Treadwell High School students.

For the past 17 years, Steve served as CEO of Christian Community Health Fellowship (CCHF)-a national network of faith-based health clinics committed to providing quality, compassionate care to uninsured and marginalized communities across the U.S. Steve believed in the teachings of Jesus, and his faith drove his life's work. He loved God and loved people. He believed that the Kingdom of God was not only about heaven but also about transforming life here and now-if something wasn't good enough for heaven, he felt called to help change it on earth. His ministry and mentorship extended far beyond Memphis, as he traveled the world to help strengthen community development organizations and churches serving the poor. He had only recently retired when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Steve was also an elder with Christ Community Church, a network of house churches meeting in low-income neighborhoods throughout Memphis.

Beyond his ministry, Steve loved fly fishing, was an incredible baker, and enjoyed cheering on the University of Memphis Tigers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Alabama football. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and "Granddaddy." His impact on the lives of others was immeasurable, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ City Church, 531 S. McLean Blvd., Memphis, TN 38104.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve's honor to Christian Community Health Fellowship (CCHF.org/donate)-an organization to which he dedicated the final years of his life to ensure healthcare for those who need it most.

Dear Noblett Family,
We had the honor of meeting and working with Steve on the CCHF Annual Conference. He will be missed; however, his legacy and leadership will endure. Our hearts are with you and the CCHF team during this difficult time.

I am thankful for Steve's well lived life. He was a good friend to many and definitely to me. His easy ability to love those he met was at the core of incredible story of success at CCHF. He gave special mean to the F in CCHF. He brought people into fellowship and made them feel special. Steve will be missed by many and definitely by me.

Dear Noblett family,
It is with the wonderful and mysterious blending of joy and sorrow that we join you in remembering Steve right now. Steve truly demonstrated the type of servant leadership that Jesus spoke of. We at the Fredericksburg Christian Health Center have benefitted over the past two decades from his support and care for our ministry. He understood the challenges that small ministries like ours face on a daily basis. His constant words of encouragement never failed to find their right place in our hearts.
Steve always took the time to speak life into our leadership and board at the annual CCHF conferences. He always sought ways to equip us for the work of the ministry. Even if our time with him was brief and limited, (everyone wanted to speak to Steve!) we always felt important, significant and heard. We left each conference with a renewed sense of purpose and vision. His kind and thoughtful leadership helped us know that we were never alone in the spiritual battle that is ministry to the poor. He reminded us to see Jesus in every person; for it is Him that we ultimately are serving and loving.

May the Lord Himself bring you peace and divine vision of Steve in the presence of the Lord.

Steve was a humble shepherd that loved God and people deeply! I experienced that as a young campus staff working with medical students in Texas. Steve took the time to get to know me, share his life, and encourage me in my work. He didn't have to do that but his incarnational presence and heart for the gospel has left a mark on me and I know so so many others. He will be missed dearly.

Steve is one of those types of men that you always want to live up to, he´s the one who sets bar in life, ministry, and service to others. I will never forget how Steve, Victoria, and the whole family rallied for so many in ministry especially my family when we went a massive touch and go season with COVID. His faith and God along with his commitment to service to others was such a testament. Steve I love brother!! May Jesus greet with the greatest hug and look at you say well done good and faithful my child!!!

Sending my condolences to all of Steve's family and loved ones from afar. He will be missed. I was a fourth year medical student when I first met Steve and many of the things I learned from Steve and the truths he shared with me during my month in Memphis are things I still remember to this day and teach other students who have a desire to use medicine to share the Gospel with underserved. I'm saddened I didn't get a chance to speak with him one last time this past year and know that he is in our Father's presence now. I still remember reading his blog back in 2020 during COVID when he ask the Lord for 5 or so more years of fruitful ministry and the Lord blessed him with that. Prayers for you all through this heartfelt time and thank you for sharing through CCHF about the beautiful moment you all had with Steve in his last days and hours.

I've known Steve ever since he stepped into his role with CCHF, and have so enjoyed our conversations over the years. I especially appreciated a conversation we had at a Starbucks in Lexington about healthcare professionals engaging in spiritual conversations with patients and being agents of the gospel, a passion we shared. His energy was contagious, and I will miss him. Heaven has gained a great saint.

Such fond memories of witnessing this faithful servant. He helped me find courage to be with community and step out of my comfort zone. I so enjoyed meeting him over ice cream at La Michoacana to talk about the upcoming conferences, what the needs were and how I might get involved. He was never visibly phased by the negative, always demonstrating hope. He is missed and I am grateful for having known him.

Mrs. Victoria and Family, I am truly sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you and sending strength during this difficult time.

Steve was a kind man and always had the kindest attitude. It made a difference to me every single time we interacted. Our offices were next to each other in the "old" Admin building, and I remember one day when he stopped by and asked, "Prescilla, when are you going to put pictures on these walls?" I replied, "It's so busy around here that I hadn't thought about those walls." We both laughed. Another time I will never forget is when he considered me during one of our conversations. We were in the breakroom when he asked if I could come chat with him in his office. He informed me that he was retiring and that Dr. Donlon would be his replacement. We went through the process together, and it was a good conversation, and that moment will always stick with me. He didn´t have to take the time to do that. But a kind man would, and a kind man he was!

Praying God's Peace and Strength!

Love,
Prescilla Johnson

I had the great joy of attending Steve's last CCHF conference as its CEO in 2024. As an undergrad student at Baylor, it was so invigorating and uplifting to see the community of health care workers so dedicated to serving Christ and mankind and promoting health care equity. This community was so vibrant and encouraged thanks to the love and hard work that Steve put in. I am grateful to have witnessed his wondrous impact in that way.

I am so happy to hear that his passing was peaceful and surrounded by his loved ones. May he rest joyously beside our Father.

And even though this is true, I am also praying for everyone who knew and loves Steve, because this time is incredibly challenging. May the Lord be with each person affected by Steve's passing.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4. Praise be that we have a God who knows our suffering firsthand and comforts us as we grieve. May His goodness be made known, always.

To the Family of Steve Noblett,
I want to extend my deepest condolences to you during this time of loss. Steve was a kind and thoughtful man, and I will always remember, one of the many such kind things he did was the day he brought lunch (Barbecue mmmm, mmm) to the Orange Mound clinic-it was such a simple gesture, but it meant so much to all of us. His generosity and quiet strength left a lasting impression.
Victoria has been and continues to be a dear friend to me. We´ve shared laughter, tears, and many heartfelt conversations. Her encouragement has lifted me more times than I can count, and I know that same spirit of compassion and strength was shared between her and Steve.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God´s peace surround you, and may the memories of Steve´s kindness and love bring comfort in the days ahead.
With love and sympathy,
Trinetta Greer

Steve will be missed. In addition to being a great Man of God, Steve was one of the most strategic thinkers I know - about ministry effectiveness, organizational life - and just life in general. He was so down-to-earth and real - and so heavenly-minded. He was a rare human being and I am extremely grateful that I got to know him as a friend and brother. I extend my sincere condolences to the family and all who knew and loved Steve.
