Edmund Camps Obituary

Edmund (Ed) Palmer Camps passed on peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Cordova, Tennessee, held-now and always-in the everlasting embrace of Divine Love.
Born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and lovingly raised in Memphis, Ed made a joyful life grounded in faith, devotion, and simple, wholehearted pleasures. For 43 precious years, he was married to the love of his life, Patty W. Camps. Their partnership was a true covenant of affection, laughter, and steadfast companionship. Quite simply, she was his world.
Ed found delight in many things, but perhaps none quite so shiny and thrilling as his Camaros-nine of them over the years-each enjoyed with delight and care. Cars weren't just a hobby; they were a source of adventure and a way of appreciating beauty, speed, and craftsmanship.
A lifelong student of Christian Science, Ed cherished the spiritual truths he learned and lived. His study of the Bible-especially the life and teachings of Christ-and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy shaped his character and guided his days. He held without hesitation that Life is eternal and uninterrupted; that passing from this earthly scene is no break in God's loving care. Ed fully expects to see you again.
A man of warmth and quick wit, Ed loved to make others laugh with clever turns of phrase and just-right observations. He was rarely without a crisp white shirt and fresh-pressed jeans, a quiet nod to his belief that life should be lived with care and good humor. If he could, he'd slip a joke into these lines just to leave you smiling.
Ed especially delighted in Christmas. His annual holiday gatherings included his famous-and fiercely competitive-Monopoly tournament, with a grand prize worthy of the battle. He found joy in thoughtfully shopping for gifts for Patty's big family, choosing presents that were both on-trend and tailored to each one. The gifts were then wrapped in layer upon layer of tape, ensuring laughter well before the paper ever came off.
He loved singing hymns, especially those that lifted thought Spirit-ward. His joy in sacred music was unmistakable-a praise that came as naturally as breathing.
Ed's love for Patty, his humor, his sincerity, and his devotion to Truth remain bright. His life continues-unbroken, untouched-held in the fullness of God's grace and eternal Life.
"For in Him we live, and move, and have our being." - Acts 17:28
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Patty W. Camps; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held 3:30 pm Monday, November 10, 2025 at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery.

Earlier today

I have the honor of meeting Ed through his wife, Patty Camps. Although I didn't see him but a couple of times, he presented himself as a very nice person and a good husband. Patty, I may not be there with you in these challenging moments, but I am in spirit and thinking about you. Love you. Maria

Fondly remembering outings with you and Harry sailing your catamaran first at Lakeland ,, (not much room there), then Arklabutla where you Harry very near drowned and the vessel flipped over. Crucial tools lie at the bottom.of the lake ! I remember your grandparents but mostly I remember your smile and pithy comments working at Baptist Hospital circa 1976. God bless you.
