Griffith James Moran

Griffith James Moran, age 27, of Memphis, TN passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021. Griff was the oldest child of Tim & Natalie Moran. He is survived by his parents, a brother, David Christopher Moran, sisters Catherine Paige Moran and Sarah Grace Moran, grandfathers Jim Tooke and Jack Moran, Sr and his beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Nancy Tooke and Pat Moran.

Griff went to grade school at St. Louis School where he played all sports. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 2012 and University of Memphis in 2017 with a degree in Psychology. At CBHS, Griff was on the track team and baseball team his freshman year. He was a self-taught musician with a deep passion for music. Griff participated in many bands as a bass player and drummer. He was also a terrific artist, a talent he inherited from his late grandmother, Pat.

Griff was a very kind person and was always thinking of others before himself. His personality and smile were infectious. Griff was diagnosed with a mental illness in his early 20s, and he worked extremely hard up until his death to live a meaningful life. Griff always said he wanted to help others with mental illness once he was able to get himself better. He was treated by a number of healthcare workers for whom we are deeply grateful. We appreciate Lakeside Hospital caring for Griff during his stays this past year and especially Dr. John Harris and his therapist Dr. Will Adams. We cannot thank you enough for the personalized, genuine care that was shown to Griff during these difficult times.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 13, from 5pm until 7:30pm at St. Louis Church with a rosary following. The funeral mass will be at St. Louis Church on Thursday, October 14, at 10am with burial at Memorial Park and a reception to follow at the St. Louis Church Clunan Center.
