Herbert Lester Brewer

Herbert "Herb" Lester Brewer, age 66, of Mt. Pleasant, MS went to his heavenly home on July 21, 2024. Herb thrived on helping others and began his career as a public servant with Shelby County Emergency Services as a volunteer. He loved helping others so much (and the lights and sirens) that he went to work for Medic Ambulance Service, in Memphis, TN. While at Medic he continued his education and became an Emergency Medical Technician. There must have been something about those lights and sirens, his love for serving, and doing it all for no money because then he became a Reserve Police Officer in Moscow, Tennessee. He was the former partner/owner of Professional Care Transportation Service and Bad Boys Barbeque. In 2001, he made a career change to full time law enforcement where he had lights and sirens every day until he retired in 2020. You may not have picked up on it but he apparently liked lights and sirens and he loved helping other people. He was definitely a kind, giving person. Herb loved hunting, watching western television shows, smoking meats and being with family and special friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Willie Houston Brewer and mother, Daisy Dickson Brewer, as well as brothers, Willie Houston Brewer, Jr., Danny D. Brewer, and his sister, Marilyn Tobias. Herb leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Cheryl, his daughter, Jennifer Hunt (Robert) of Cordova, TN and his son, Terry Brewer (Kellie) of Olive Branch, MS. Fourteen grandchildren, Casey Mote, Austin Murphy, Owen Murphy, Joslyn Hunt, Adison Hunt, Ethan Hunt, Breanna Carter, Taylor Carter, Alex Brewer, Bayleigh Pannell, Emma Pannell, Hanna Pannell, Jacob Brewer and Karley Pannell. He also leaves two great-granddaughters, Hazel and Winry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
