Mr. and Mrs. James Kerry Walker, beloved parents, grandparents, children, and friends, passed away on August 2nd and 3rd, 2025, respectively. Kerry courageously battled cancer for 18 years and Lisa endured a near life-long struggle with diabetes.
Kerry was born on May 23, 1956, in Gulfport, Mississippi, the son of James Benton and Mary Frances Walker. He graduated from Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi, and from the University of Mississippi. Kerry enjoyed a distinguished career in Capital Markets with the former First Tennessee Bank and Raymond James Financial, Inc., until his retirement.
Lisa was born on September 26, 1958, in Redwood City, California. She graduated from Los Altos High School in Los Altos, California, and attended San Diego State University.
In 1987, Kerry and Lisa were married in Atherton, California, at her grandmother's estate on a beautiful Northern California afternoon. They raised two wonderful daughters: Jeannette Walker Duffy (Jennie) married to Raymond Vincent Duffy, Jr. (Ray), and Caroline Walker Prather married to John Caswell Prather, II (Wells). They are also survived by five grandchildren: Raymond Duffy III (Vincent), James Duffy, Emilia Prather, Walker Prather, and Charlotte Prather.
Additional surviving family members include Mary Frances Walker (Kerry's mother), Lynda Larrus and Marc Larrus (Lisa's sister and brother, respectively).
They are predeceased by Kerry's father, James Benton Walker, and his sister, Cheryl Lynn Evans, and Lisa's parents, Patricia Tyler Larrus and Herbert Marco Larrus.
Kerry was an avid sports fan, devoted to his Ole Miss Rebels and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Lisa had a special affection for San Francisco (though she also treasured her years in Dallas and Memphis), loved the beach, and was a passionate rescuer of animals.
They both had their own countenance, smiles, and laughter that brought exceptional joy to all who knew them. Most of all, they deeply loved their daughters, of whom they were immensely proud, and cherished their family, friends, and the special times spent with them.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on August 8, 2025, at Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Salmon Room, followed by a service in the Chapel at noon.In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to honor their memory with a donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
