Janie Thomas-Scott Obituary
Janie accepted Christ at an early age at St. Luke M.B. Church. She was affectionately known to many as "Peete".
Janie loved cooking every Sunday and on holidays. Her family and so many others would come over to eat. Janie's cooking was so good that family and friends would make special requests for her many desserts that she cooked.
Janie departed this life peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at her home in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Thomas and mother, Addie Lean Gilmore; two brothers, John Thomas and James Thomas; three sisters, Darlene Lean Gilmore, Mary Thomas, Mattie M. Thomas (Jackson); and a granddaughter, Tierra Lashai Sullivan.
Janie leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, J.P. Scott, Jr.; four sons, Tony Sullivan, Richard Hughes, Jr., Jeremy Thomas and Javonte Thomas; four daughters, Nakia Thomas (Tony Harvey), Angela Thomas, Shanica Hughes and Jymarra Shaw (Rico); three stepchildren, Justine Scott, Dominique Scott (Tashea) and Keisha Sullivan; three brothers, Richard Thomas, Tommy Thomas, and Eddie Thomas; one sister, Betty Thomas; four brothers-in-law, Eddie Scott (Betty), Robert Scott (Earnestine), Louis Blayde (Gail), Ray Scott; two sisters-in-law, Doris Webber, Joyce Moses (Robert); one aunt, Peggy Turner; 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at H.C. Jett-H.C. Ford Funeral Home, 203 Washington St., Collierville, TN 38017. Funeral service Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at New Stinson Community Church, 230 Frazier Rd., Rossville, TN 38066. Interment in Mt. Hebrew M.B. Church Cemetery, 905 Keough Dr. Piperton, TN 38017.
