Jeffrey Goldstein Obituary

Jeffrey L. Goldstein was adopted by Maxwell Goldstein and Lilian Love of Woodmere, New York shortly after his birth on April 28, 1948. As an only child, he remained close with his extended family nearby.

The snowbirds nested in South Florida during his high school years. He then left the nest to earn his bachelor's degree at the University of Florida and doctorate degree at the Southern College of Optometry. Jeff was never allergic to work. He held multiple odd jobs while attaining his degrees. The restaurant industry welcomed him in various forms and fostered lifelong relationships. Over the course of his career, he owned and operated several optometric practices while pioneering the optics of modern care. Eyes For You allowed him to serve the Mid-South for decades. He was never afraid to look outside of the box and always eager to help others. A deep capacity for compassion and calm magnetized him. He made a difference in the lives of so many and never asked for much. An open invitation to travel and new experiences hastened his short stride for a tall guy. Whether his feet were sandy, or his beard was icy, whether the food was raw or overcooked, whether he had to attend continuing education or excursions, his travels and the resultant memories were dear to him. His family was most dear.

Jeff was predeceased by his youngest son, Stephen, and survived by his former wife, Debbie, oldest son, Jay, daughter-in-law, Emily, and grandchildren, Fallyn and Crew.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 8th, at 1 pm. The Danziger Chapel at Temple Israel is located at 1376 E. Massey Road, Memphis, 38120.

May Jeff be remembered with smiles, laughter, and love.

This was a shock. I just happened to stop in the Poplar store today and also about him. I received my first contact lenses from Eyes For You in 1984. I continued to frequent Eyes For You while living out of state and when I returned to Memphis. He was a great doctor and will most definitely be missed.

My condolences to the family. I always thought highly of Dr. Jeff and enjoyed my few years working at the Poplar office in the mid 1990´s. I will always have fond memories of him being a fun and pleasant boss. I know he will be greatly missed.
