Kennith Preston Nowlin, 72, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away suddenly from Coronavirus on September 10th, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.

Preston was born in New Albany, Mississippi to Edward and Mavelene Nowlin on November 16th, 1948. He graduated from Messick High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and married his high school sweetheart, Joanna, on August 8th, 1968. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage.

Preston was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had an infectious spirit who loved and was loved, by everyone he knew, so much so his friends affectionately nicknamed him "Buddy Boy".

His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to work at the Kellogg Company for 40 years. Once retired, he was a doting grandfather who didn't mind changing dirty diapers. Although he had dreams that his granddaughter would someday share in his passion for golf, he settled for her love of barbies instead.

Preston enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He was adored and loved by all who knew him.
Preston is preceded in death by parents Edward and Mavelene Nowlin and stepmother Mary Nowlin; siblings, Marvanna (Kenny) Raymond and Travis Gray; and son Phillip Nowlin.

Preston is survived by wife, Joanna Nowlin; children, Julie Nowlin, and Amy (Eddie) Camilleri; grandchildren, Katherine, Scott, Jack, and Abigail; siblings, Charles (Carolyn) Nowlin, Carolyn Moorman, Sammy Nowlin, and Tina (Mike) Latham; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Preston had the sweetest heart and soul of anyone I've ever known. To know him was such a pleasure. One I will treasure for the rest of my life. Messick days were so remarkable to run into him with his big smile and Hello. The Mingles and the Messick reunions are fond memories of a loving man that will last a lifetime. You touched so many hearts during all your years. Sending condolences to his family who he loved so dearly and to all of his friends at Messick and beyond. God be with you all.....

I distinctly remember Preston Nowlin, who sat near me every morning in Home Room at school. With his heavy beard and muscular build, he looked 25 years old, a man among boys. Preston was a genial soul to everyone around him, the kind of person you want in your family or neighborhood. Preston, I´m so sad and angry we lost you to COVID, a fearful crisis we all share. You´ll be missed. Condolences to your family.

Preston will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. I graduated from Messick in 67 and while I didn´t get an opportunity to see him that often after high school we always enjoyed spending time together. He was held in high regard by me and all that knew him. He will always be remembered as one of the really "good guys" at Messick and wherever he went. My condolences to his entire family and may God be with you all at this time.

A member of the class of `67, I have a deep & abiding love for Preston. He was one of the kindest, most loving, & honorable individuals I have ever known. The world will seem to make less sense without him! (Photo taken @ Messick Mingle with Claire Koon Haun & Gloria Hendrix)
