It is with great shock and infinite sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Kim Deree Meloni
. Kim was a lifelong Memphian, who worked as a tireless legal defender for neglected and abused children. She positively affected the lives of both her clients and colleagues in the courtroom. Outside of work, she was a longstanding member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Over the last 27 years, she has helped countless men and women in the rooms of A.A. Kim's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she has left behind. The family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of loss, love, and support; in large part from those who witnessed Kim's compassion and tenacious efforts firsthand. What made Kim so special, was her ability to make everyone feel accepted, no matter the circumstances. Without hesitation, she poured love into her work, friendships, and family.
Kim is preceded in death by her mother, Sandy Meloni, and leaves behind her father, Gary Meloni, Sr. (Ann); brother, Gary Meloni, Jr. (Barbara); sister, Halle Whitlock (Derek); numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her two loving pups, Ollie and Stella. Kim's openness and acceptance of all people also blessed her with a collection of meaningful friends, who have been immensely supportive and loving… Kim loved you all deeply. The only consolation to this tragedy is knowing that Kim is now reunited with her mother, as they both smile upon us in God's loving embrace.
A Visitation and Memorial Service for Kim will be held outside on Saturday, September 18th on the Botanic Garden's "Great Lawn". Visitation starts at 9:30 AM, followed by the Memorial Service at 10:30 AM.
Dress will be business casual and the family ask that you please consider wearing a mask.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memphis Child Advocacy Center at memphiscac.org or to a charity of your choice.
