Martha Sellars France

Martha Sellars France, aged 89, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Southaven, MS. Born on June 26, 1936, in Lambert, MS, Martha was a cherished member of her community and a pillar for her family.

Martha graduated from Batesville High School and spent much of her life dedicated to her family and community. She was a loving wife to her husband, Charlie France, and a devoted mother to her children, Dianne France Hanson and Harold France. Grandmother to Sterling Hanson, Clayton France, Sophia Jacobs, and Nancy Hawkins.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Verna Clair Sellars, and her siblings, Janice Sellars Cannon, John Edward Sellars, and Gladys Sellars Hancock.

A committed homemaker, Martha was deeply involved in her children's school activities and the daily operations of the family-owned meat market and processing business. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to co-own a sewing and pattern shop in Hernando, MS. Martha's commitment extended to her faith community for many years at Hernando Baptist Church in Hernando, MS. After moving to Southaven, MS she and her husband Charlie joined DeSoto Hill Baptist Church where they are still members.

Martha's hobbies brought joy to both her life and those around her. She was an avid fan of The Grand Ole Opry, enjoyed antiquing with her sisters, and loved singing and celebrating the Christmas season. Her later years were marked by significant volunteer work with Teen Challenge of Memphis, where she found great fulfillment in aiding troubled youth.

Martha's life will be celebrated at DeSoto Hill Baptist Church, Southaven, MS on Thursday, November 20th, with visitation from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a memorial service at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or Teen Challenge of Memphis, honoring her commitment to service and community support.
