Scott McCormick Obituary

Scott Crain McCormick, 56 of Germantown, TN passed away Friday, February 3, 2023. He was lovingly surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 9, 1966, in Memphis, TN to Carolyn Crain and Robert E. (Bobby) McCormick, Jr.

Scott attended grade school at St. Anne Highland Catholic School, graduated from Christian Brothers High School, and attended the University of Memphis.

Scott worked as a City Manager for a car rental company for many years in Memphis then began a career in insurance which took him from Memphis to Charleston, SC, then Little Rock, AR as well as Jacksonville, FL where he spent many years. He returned to his hometown in 2012.

Scott loved the game of golf and was an avid and accomplished player with a hole-in-one under his belt! On most weekends he could be found on the golf course with his father, Bobby "Chief", Uncle Tom, his brother, Rob as well as with his friends Danny "DJ" Jones, Mike Alexander and Tommy "TA" Alexander. For the last several years he enjoyed following his pro-golfer friend Ryan "Blu" Palmer on the PGA Tour. Some of his best golf memories were playing at Sawgrass, traveling with his golf buds to watch the Masters unfold in Augusta, and being a member of the gallery at the Players Championship.

Scott was a devoted father and husband and leaves two children, daughter Sydney Wray McCormick, son Scott Crain McCormick, Jr., and his wife of 11 years, Mary Ann Liebenrood McCormick who will carry on loving and supporting the children. He also leaves sisters Leigh V. McCormick and Karen O'Malley (Thomas), all of Memphis, and brother, Robert E. (Rob) McCormick, III (Traci) of Harrison, AR, his mother-in-law Jamie Liebenrood of Germantown, brother-in-law Trey Liebenrood (Laura) of Collierville, and sister-in-law Kelly Del Cid of Troy, OH as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie Everitt McCormick in 2008, leaving him with their two small children, his parents Carolyn and Bobby McCormick, his father-in-law, Hal "Loco" Liebenrood of Memphis, and brother-in-law Luis Del Cid of Troy, Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 10 am. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S. White Station Rd. in Memphis. The Funeral Mass to follow at 11am.

I will miss Scotty so much. There was a time that I talked to him almost every day. Sydney and little Scotty are precious and I love them so much. I hurt.
