Will Frank Benton

Will Frank Benton, 82, of Germantown, TN passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 28, 2020. He was the third child born to the late Mr. Elliott Benton and Mrs. Fannie Crutchfield Benton. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Rossville, TN. He was married to the love of his life, Ernestine Brown Benton for 58 years.

Affectionally known as Grand-Frank by his grandchildren and godchildren, he graduated from Mt. Pisgah High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Tennessee State University in 1960. Will Frank was a proud alumnus and devoted participant in the TSU Memphis Alumni Association and the Big Blue until his health failed.

Will's career centered around scientific research and data analysis. His career journey began at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN as a Biochemical Laboratory Technician and later joined Quaker Oats Chemical Company where he climbed the corporate ladder. After thirty years of dedicated service and continued professional growth he retired.

Many people were impacted by Will Frank's love, devotion, and quiet strength. To cherish his memories, he leaves his devoted wife, Ernestine; two loving children, Nicholas (Tameika) Benton of Bartlett, TN and Dr. Felicia (Michael) Benton-Johnson of Lilburn, GA; four heartwarming grandchildren: Morgan, Joshua, Blake and Bailey; a caring big sister Lenora Lewis; a charismatic brother-in-law Thomas; five adoring sisters-in-law Mildred, Florence, Charlesetta, Lillie, and Jean; a dedicated God-Son Earl (Christine) Arnold; two attentive God-Daughters Wendy Reader (personal nurse) and Kristal (Darnell) Golden and their three children; a passionate nephew, Dr. Phillip Lewis; life-long friends Robert and Judy Stevens of Houston, Texas; a faithful cousin Barbara (Bill) Valentine; countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a plethora of friends and associates.

Viewing, Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 12-2 pm at New Shelby Missionary Baptist Church, 1059 Bray Station Rd Collierville, TN 38017. Graveside services will be held at 12pm on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Memorial Park South Woods Cemetery, 5485 Hacks Cross Road, Memphis, TN 38125. Pastor Brandon Walker, officiating.
