William Donathan Obituary
William "Harrison" Donathan was born on November 14, 1961, in Sevier County, Tennessee. He passed away at age 63 on August 18, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Harrison attended LaBelle Haven Elementary School and Southern Baptist Educational Center in Memphis, and he graduated his last year from Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee. He worked as a preventive maintenance technician at Sears and then as an audio technician at Broadway Baptist Church before joining the staff of Bellevue Baptist Church in 2002.
Harrison faithfully served at Bellevue for 23 years, supporting the technical needs of the church. He provided a wide array of audio, video, and lighting support, including mixing audio and running the tech booth for weddings, funerals, conferences, recitals, and concerts both on and off campus. Harrison had a propensity for operating and working on technical equipment, but he used those talents to pursue what he enjoyed most: working with people. Though quiet and reflective, he regularly took time to be with people. His impact is seen in the lives of everyone whose important life moments he helped make possible.
Harrison especially loved his family. He was always the one behind the camera, capturing the treasured memories of their times together. He received great pleasure in photography and helping digitize photos and memories for others, and every time the family got together, he was always in for a good board game or Double Nine Dominoes. His other hobbies and interests included fishing, hiking, and East Tennessee history.
Harrison's quiet demeanor and constant kind smile always set folks at ease. If you were Harrison's friend, you were assured of his loyalty and friendship for life. Harrison's heart for people and faithfulness toward his loved ones were rooted in his love for his Savior, which was evident in his kindness toward everyone around him.
Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lee Donathan and Ruby Neely Donathan, and his brother Stephan Ray Donathan. He is survived by his brother Henry Keith (Sandra Hood) Donathan; his sister, Michelle (Mike) Davis; four nieces; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 20, at Bellevue Baptist Church, which is located at 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes.
