William Shayne Scanlan Obituary
As a business owner, Shayne operated Scanlan's Contracting Services with pride and dedication. His work reflected his artistic nature and passion-driven craftsmanship. He found joy in riding his motorcycle, sketching, spending time with family and friends, and living life on the edge. Best known for his boisterous energy and irreverent humor, Shayne left an impression wherever he went.
Shayne's faith was important to him, and he shared his faith in Jesus Christ as a member of New Hope Christian Church in Bartlett. His vibrant personality and courageous heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his maternal grandmother Peggy Nickens; paternal grandmother Elizabeth Scanlan; mother Melissa Smith (Wayne Johnson); father William M. Scanlan; stepfather Gary Smith; daughter Shaelyn Freeman; sisters Jessica Beck (Eric), Kaylee Urena (Abi), and Bailey Smith; brother Ryan Scanlan; nieces Scarlet Urena, Gracelyn Beck, Olivia Urena; nephews Quinton Beck and Xavier Urena; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather William E. Scanlan.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. Both events will be held at New Hope Christian Church, 3300 Kirby Whitten Rd., Bartlett, TN 38134. A balloon release will follow the service in honor of Shayne's vibrant spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Hope Christian Church.
Though his time here was brief, Shayne's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
