Richard Sprague Obituary

NORWOOD Richard J. Sprague, 76, a lifetime resident of Norwood, was called upon by the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2008. Known locally as a social mayor, Rich would always say hi to everyone. He was a striking member on many leagues as a candlepin bowler, a longtime member of the Norwood Elks, yet his winning passion was bingo, and was well known amongst the local players. A member of St. Catherines Church, he devoted his time as an assistant, teaching with the childrens educational classes. Richard was the son of the late Richard G. and Jesse (Hutchins) Sprague. He is predeceased by both of his wives, Margaret J. Meehan Sprague, and Betty Pelletier Sprague. Continuing his legacy are his daughters, Elaine Sprague Yarbrough of San Diego and Terri Sprague of Bastrop Texas; his only granddaughter, Hanna Yarbrough, also of San Diego. He was the brother of Emily Eisenhaur and her husband, Ike, of W. Granby, Conn., Edith Foster and her family of Panama Beach, Fla., Arthur Sprague and his wife, Jan, of Largo, Fla., and John Sprague of Tampa, Fla. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also share their loss. Notice of a memorial service in June will be later announced, burial will be private.

Our good friend Richard :)
You will be missed by so many ... Richard had the child-like delight and happiness that the world so needs. He was drawn to people and they to him... and he never turned down a hot apple pie and vanilla shake from Mc Donalds!!!!
He saved his Bingo winnings(quarters) to buy his granddaughter art supplies when she came to visit..

He was a special friend and member of our family and we will miss you dear gentle friend.

Rest in peace gentle soul.
The world is a better and happier place because of you. You brought a smile to all who knew"RICHARD"!!!
Love you good friend,

Marybeth and John McDonough and family
