Charles A. "Chuck" Brewer Jr. obituary

Charles Brewer Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Brewer Jr. was truly a man for all seasons. A visionary entrepreneur, he built C. Brewer Co. from his garage into one of California's largest and respected custom injection molding companies. A holder of U.S. patents in dental products, he testified before Congress in support of Good Manufacturing Practices and chaired the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) committee that established the first U.S. standards for injection molds. He was honored by the SPI with their Distinguished Service Award, the coveted "Man of the Year.", and ultimately inducted in the Western Plastics Pioneers "Hall of Fame".
In the early chapters of his life, Chuck was married to his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn, and together they raised four wonderful sons. While Chuck's heart was firmly rooted in his role as a devoted father, his spirit for adventure was never still. He chased both dreams and his sons down the slopes of Mammoth Mountain and soared above the clouds in Cessna's and Piper Cubs always seeking adventure, always moving.
Among the many passions that brought Chuck joy, sailing with his "crew" held a special place. A dedicated and spirited sailor, he poured his energy and precision into racing his boat, Heartbeat, competing in local "Beer Can" races and making an annual pilgrimage to the Newport to Ensenada race. He was a proud member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club, where his life will be celebrated on August 1.
In a new season of his life, Chuck found a loving companion in his wife Carol. Together, they roamed the open roads in their motorhome, tracing the long highway back to his hometown of Bemidji, Minnesota. Whether exploring faraway places or stealing away to Catalina, Chuck remained playful, spontaneous, and always up for the next great journey.
Throughout his life, Chuck drew strength from the love of his Lido Isle community neighbors, friends, and fellow dog walkers, who always lifted his spirit. Though 90 years hardly seemed enough time for his boundless energy, Chuck completed his earthly journey on July 14th, in his Lido home, with dignity and peace.
Chuck's legacy lives on in his wife, Carol Brewer; his sister, Carol Chastain; his four sons and their partners; his eleven grandchildren; and the extended Brewer family as well as in the hearts of the many whose lives he touched.
He received compassionate care from the City of Hope as he bravely battled MDS and leukemia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chuck's name to City of Hope (https://www.cityofhope.org/giving/give-honor-or-memory)
