Judith Hawley Patterson

Judith Hawley Patterson passed away peacefully in her home in Indio, CA on June 15, 2022.

Born in Glendale, Judy attended Glendale High School and then went off to the University of Southern California (USC). There she was active in the Delta Gamma sorority and graduated in 1960. Soon after, she began teaching kindergarten and first grade in Houston and LA City school districts.

Judy married the love of her life M.W. "Pat" Patterson in Glendale in 1963. Together they have five sons; Michael, Stephen, David, Daniel, and Matthew. The family laid roots in Corona del Mar, CA in 1969.

To know Judy was to know that she cherished her family, had a deep love for music, and had an unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ.

Judy sang professionally as a teenager, and later she founded the Glendale Jr. Philharmonic Committee and then served on the Orange County Philharmonic Women's and Advisory Board.

Her deep and abiding faith in Christ was seen in her daily actions with everyone she came across. She was a Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church, held leadership roles in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Sunday School, taught Kids Club and Vacation Bible School, and was a docent at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. She was given the honor of Presbyterian Woman of the year in 2015 by the Women of St. Andrew Community Presbyterian Church in Indio. She loved serving the Lord.

Professionally, Judy became an advertising consultant for the Pennysaver and quickly worked her way into management.

Judy was always on the go. She played tennis, bunko, bocce ball, she swam and spent time writing fiction. She was a die-hard USC Trojan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan (which she got from Pat). She and Pat loved to travel, visiting The Holy Land, Hawaii, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, and France.

She leaves behind her five sons, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her greatest wish was that all the people she knew would be able to know Jesus Christ as she has.

Services will be held for Judy on Saturday, July 23 at the Presbyterian Church of the Master in Mission Viejo at 1:00 PM. All those who knew her are welcome.
