Philip Gold Obituary

Philip John Gold of Fullerton, CA passed away peacefully at home in Newport Beach, CA on January 5, 2022. He was the loving husband of Julia Royall Gold for 53 years, father of Elisabeth Gold, step-father of Eldon Setterholm, Laura Cordovano, Douglas Setterholm, James Setterholm, and Mary Setterholm, grandfather to 11, great-grandfather to 2. Phil is predeceased by his daughter Cathleen Gold, step-daughter Margaret Setterholm, and parents, Malvina and Aaron Gold. His love for family knew no bounds. With impeccable style, Phil embraced all that life had to offer. He was an accomplished chef, a patron of the arts opera was a favorite and a seasoned traveler. Learning was a lifelong passion. He was a graduate of UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. While continuing to steward the family business, Gold Furniture, Phil had the courage to embark on a second career. At almost 50, he opened his own law practice. He helped clients work through the complexities of estate planning well into his 80s. The law was his calling. While Phil relished exploring the world with Julia, he found his greatest happiness at home. We will forever remember his robust laugh, sharp wit, moral compass, generous spirit, and deep gratitude for friends and family. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
