Dr. Robert "Bobby" Larner

Robert "Bobby" Larner passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 9, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 88.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Bobby attended Fairfax High School and went on to graduate from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry.
After completing his studies, he served as a dentist in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met the love of his life, Nancy. Together, they returned to Southern California and settled on the Balboa Peninsula, where they built their home, raised their family, and enjoyed life by the beach with their many friends and loved ones.
In addition to their home in California, Bobby and his family spent time in Zurich, Switzerland, where he taught dentistry at the University of Zurich.
Bobby and Nancy shared a deep love of travel, adventure, and good company. They explored the world together, returning often to favorite destinations such as Switzerland and Mexico, and always made time to share wine with great friends.
A dedicated and compassionate professional, Bobby established his own dental practices, where he built lifelong relationships with his patients and took great joy in helping others. He also served on the Board of Directors at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, contributing his time and expertise to his community.
Outside of his work, Bobby was happiest near the ocean or in the mountains, on the beach, ski slopes, or out on his sailboat. He was an expert waterman and even taught himself to surf at the age of 65.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy; their children, Amy Larner Schoen and her husband Mike Buchheim, and Todd Larner and his wife Julie Johnson Larner; and his grandchildren, Libby & Jackson Larner, Sarah, & Allison Schoen.
The family will hold a private ceremony in remembrance of his remarkable life.
