Helen Hamby Obituary
Died: September 28, 2025
Helen Isabelle Orr Hamby, age 84 of Murfreesboro, TN, but formerly of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025. A native of Athens, TN, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Isbell Orr and Sarah Margaret Lewis Orr. Mrs. Hamby was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Howard Hamby and a sister, Daisy King.
Mrs. Hamby is survived by her daughter, Kathy Damewood and her husband Randy of Manchester, TN; sons, Lloyd Hamby and his wife Reba of Flat Top, TN, and Michael Hamby and his wife Melinda of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Ella Donaldson of Athens, TN, Beth Bruce of Athens, TN, Judy Hughes of Niota, TN, Glenna Sue Orr of Nashville, TN, and Laura Jean Dunbar of Pembroke Pines, FL; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, TN. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM following the visitation with Pastor Krislyn Durham officiating. A graveside will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Chattanooga, TN at 2:00 PM EST.
Mrs. Hamby was a member of the Methodist Church. She graduated from McMinn County High School and attended Tennessee Poly-Technical Institute and graduated with a B. S. degree in Elementary Education from U. T. Chattanooga.
