Merle Tummins, 87, of Etowah passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Dan Tummins; and sons, James W. Tummins and Sharon Gabel, Ward L. Tummins and Siobhan Kaliher. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Scott Cardin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be given to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements. So sorry to hear of Merle's passing. I met her through my work at The Daily Post-Athenian and I remember her warm smile and lots of laughter as we talked on several occasions. She was a delightful lady and I'm glad to have met her.
